In 1998, Eve Ensler conducted 200 interviews with women about women. She spoke with mothers, daughters, social workers, artists, corporate professionals, lesbian women, african-american women, young women... They were vagina discussions, which lead to vagina interviews, which lead to... The Vagina Monologues

Save the date for Vagina Monologues East Bay 2010! Come celebrate the diversity, strength, and energy of local women with Eve Ensler's award winning "The Vagina Monologues". Directed by Jamie Sharp and starring a stellar cast of local Vagina Warriors from the Hipline Belly Dance studio, Oakland Kaiser Hospital, and the Environmental Traveling companions. Our informal arts cooperative is excited to contribute to the Oakland Arts Renaissance with this engaging production.

La Peña's cafe will be open, so enjoy a night of Berkeley color on Shattuck Ave. at this cultural landmark.

ABOUT THE CAUSE:
V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of playwright/founder Eve Ensler’s award winning play "The Vagina Monologues" and other artistic works. Each year V-Day increases awareness by focusing on a specific group of women in the world who are resisting violence with courage and vision. In 2010, V-Day's Spotlight Campaign will once again highlight the atrocities being committed against the women and girls of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
