La Peña Hub Presents: Uniting Voices

January 24, 2013 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

| Free

Uniting Voices bannerCome and join us to re-imagine our nation’s dialogue on immigration issues. Specifically, how arts and cultural work can elevate the immigration conversation around the country.  La Peña HUB will host a group-dialogue between activists, educators, cultural workers and artists to talk about the victories and struggles of finding a universal immigrant voice.

The dialogue will include addressing the needs of organizations and activists on the frontline on how to support their work and the needs of the artists to create work that provokes political and social change.  We will also discuss which directions we want to take to better serve our immigrant communities, as well as learn about best practices and models of productive collaborations between artists and activists. It will be a fruitful cross-cultural and transnational opportunity to highlight the ongoing and growing movement of our diverse immigrant communities.

La Peña HUB is an ongoing series of events aimed at supporting our community of artists and activists through networking and professional development opportunities. La Peña has historically been a vital progressive gathering place for the incubation of ideas, social movements and artistic development. With our Artivista HUB program we want to invite local artists, activists and community members to join us for various events and opportunities this program will provide.
