Renting La Peña General Information

Space availability varies monthly. We book 3-6 months in advance. Non-profit educational events are given priority. Advertised programs must be open and accessible to the general public. Request for private events such as weddings, receptions, memorials, conferences and meetings are possible. Please inquire.

As part of our mission, La Peña believes it is important to encourage discussion and dialogue to increase understanding among diverse groups and cultures. The use of our space by other groups does not mean La Peña endorses the views or opinions presented by them.

Weekly Classroom Rental
(Applies to any day of the week, depending on availability)
$30 per hour for rentals that run for 6-12 weeks. All class instructors are expected to be self sufficient, they will check out a key, and must do advertising in addition to standards provided to all classes and events.

Weekday Rental Rate (Evening)
(Sunday – Thursday evenings)
$450, plus $17-$25  per hour for sound tech. House Manager is included in the rental fee.  Rate covers a 4-hour minimum period, including basic sound, general stage and house lighting, use of 175 chairs, and 2 folding tables. Basic sound includes two microphones for speech only, video projector, CD/DVD player. The house manager is required for the entire rental period. Renters are responsible for set-up/tear-down, cleanup of the space and handling their own ticket sales.

Rental rate for Friday and Saturday evenings:
$850 for a 6-hour period (including set-up and breakdown). All other conditions from weekday rentals apply.

Additional Fees that May Apply:

  • Each additional hour is $75.
  • Box-office management is available for $17/hour. This includes; third party ticketing agent set-up for ticket pre-sales, sale of tickets on-site, and reconciliation of all sales.

Sound and Light Systems with Technician:
A technician is needed for music events, dances, and other programs with technical requirements exceeding what is included in basic rental above. Includes full use of bi-amped sound system, up to 16 mics, 4 stage monitors (2 monitor mixes), DAT, 18 lighting instruments with 2-scene preset controller. La Peña will provide a technician, or you may provide your own with advance approval of La Peña’s Production Director (a 2-hour consultation fee will be charged). Please speak with the Production Director at least two weeks prior to event date about your sound and lighting needs, load-in, sound-check and breakdown time.

Maximum Occupancy = 200 standing room / 160 seated theater style

A rental at La Peña includes chairs but limited tables. Inquire further if your event requires tables.

Square Feet = 2,000



This is the space between Los Cilantros restaurant and the theater. The space has a small stage and is suitable for poetry readings, solo (2 or 3 person) acoustic presentations, film screenings and receptions. The space comes with a six channel sound system and mics. Due to the shared space, there is ambient noise and shared use of the bathrooms.

The Community Room is available for acoustic rehearsals, classes, workshops, small meetings and presentations. It has a mirror-covered wall for dance rehearsals.
