CHILEXICO is a celebration of Chile & Mexico’s Independence Days, featuring an icredible lineup of Bay Area talent!  The evening starts off with two ensemble dance groups: Ballet Folklorico Reflejos de México and Grupo Araucaria Danzas de Chile!

Following the dance presentations, we bring you a full-on FIESTAS PATRIAS PARTY with PASTO SECO BAND and DJ TURBO SONIDERO! So bring your Cumbia dancing shoes, bring your cash for the TEQUILA & PISCO BAR, and come hungry for the delicious Mexican and Chilean food stands by Los Cilantros Restaurant and El Meson de Violeta!

PASTO SECO BAND

Pasto Seco Band is a Latin American dance band pulling from traditional South American and Caribbean genres, with a focus on South American Cumbia styles, as well as mambo, salsa, saya and more! Based in the East Bay, their band members hail from all over the world, inluding: Chile, Mexico, Colombia, Cuba, Argentina and the U.S. Their goal is to bring people from all background together in celebration through music, culture and community.

 

TURBO SONIDERO (DJ & Producer)

Originally from Puebla, México, Turbo Sonidero is a nationally-renowned music producer and

DJ that mixes Cumbia with hip hop, reggaeton, house music and more. Guaranteed to make you dance, he has shared the stage with Ozomatli, Chico Trujillo, La Misa Negra, Kumbia Queers, Ana Tijoux, Bang Data, Quantic y más!

 

 

BALLET FOLKLORICO REFLEJOS DE MÉXICO

Reflejos de México is a Mexican folkoric dance group that promotes cultural diversity in the Bay Area. As a  student-led organization founded in UC Berkeley, Reflejos de México is comprised of ambitious, young Cal students who are ready to interact, serve and educate on the richness of Mexican dance arts.

 

 

GRUPO ARAUCARIA: DANZAS DE CHILE

Based in the SF Bay Area, Grupo Araucaria has been performing the traditional folk dances of Chile for over 20 years. Araucaria’s dancing represents the country’s diverse regional cultures: from the cold and rainy region of Chiloe, in the south, to the the sunny and productive valleys in the Central Region, to the desert and festive Andes mountains in the north.
