On March 12, Golden Thread Productions celebrates pioneering Bay Area women artists who have built community through their art: Taraneh Hemami, Nabila Mango, Betty Shamieh, and Sharlyn Sawyer.
Join us in celebrating pioneering Bay Area women artists who have built community through their art. Golden Thread founding artistic director Torange Yeghiazarian will be in conversation with visual artist and curator Taraneh Hemami, founder of Zawaya executive director Nabila Mango, playwright Betty Shamieh, and founding artistic director of Ballet Afsaneh Sharlyn Sawyer. Each artist will present a showcase of their work, including a musical performance of Aswat Women’s Choir that will conclude the program.

Each year, Golden Thread Productions celebrates International Women’s Day by showcasing the work of leading Middle Eastern women artists. Previous programs have focused on activism by women artists, artists who explore sex and sexuality, and female solo performers.
