Welcome to La Peña! Promoting social justice & intercultural understanding through the arts since 1975.
All levels are welcome. Workshop is offered by donation of any size and all proceeds go to support La Peña.
About the workshop:
Stress and its physical manifestations (e.g. tight neck and shoulders, trouble sleeping, headaches, racing thoughts, low back pain, poor digestion, etc.) are pervasive in our fast-paced and demanding world. Additionally, many of our community members have expressed post-election stress. Please join us for a workshop focused on developing useful strategies for combating stress and increasing vitality.
In this workshop we will:
-Discuss common stress triggers and their impact on the mind and body
-Learn simple techniques to reduce and manage stress: yoga, breath work, mindfulness practices, guided imagery, self-massage, etc.
-Learn strategies to promote greater vitality, boost mood, and become more stress resilient
– The workshop will conclude with a singing bowl meditation and creative writing exercise to destress.
Please wear clothing you feel comfortable moving in, and warm layers if you get cold easily. All materials will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own mat (La Peña has extras if you don’t have one), journal and writing utensil, and any other props necessary for your comfort.
