Lisa Maria Castellanos is a Central Valley born Xikana, a long-time activist and an emerging artist. She believes printmaking is a popular art that is best learned and shared in community to uncover stories of strength, resistance and beauty. Noche de SaludArte, a play on words that means “greetings” and “healing throught art”, is an invitation to break isolation and find common ground. Lisa is the founder of a community-based arts project called Taller GiRASOL: Grabando Resistencia por medio del Arte y la Solidaridad through the School of Arts and Culture at the Mexican Heritage Plaza in San Jose, California. She lives in Oakland, and works as a grantwriter for Communities for a Better Environment in Richmond and East Oakland communities.
