This Open Mic Night is centered on the different manifestations of violence — emotional, physical, sexual and beyond — in the different relationships we hold — with partners, mentors, family and friends, within academic and professional spaces and institutions. Specifically, we will celebrate the voices of people of color that seek to reclaim and share solidarity on narratives of violence.
To perform is a powerful act. We invite you to share a 5 – 7 minute performance (poem, song, music, reading from a journal, an interpretive dance . . . your creative freedom). No experience is required, enthusiasm and finding your brave space is welcome. We have two asks: share YOUR story and, at the end of your performance, share a quality about yourself that you adore and is key to your resilience.
