The Venezuelan Music Project, one of the only groups performing Venezuelan music in the Bay Area is coming to La Peña for a special Holiday Parranda! The project was founded in 1997 by Jackeline Rago to perform a wide range of Venezuelan music from traditional folk songs to contemporary dance songs. The project fuses indigenous Venezuelan, Arab-Andalusian, West Africa and Spanish-European genres to bring the sounds of Venezuela to the Bay Area. The Venezuelan Music Project plays a collection of authentic instruments from Venezuelan to give the audience an experience of real traditional sounds of Venezuelan music. Especially notable in the unique sound of the VMP is the Cuatro, a small guitar that is heard in almost all styles of Venezuelan music and beautifully complements the percussions and wind instruments of the band. The band has an incredible energy and is sure to get your feet tapping! Eat, drink and be merry with us this holiday season at this special Venezuelan Parranda!
