Bomba and Plena music, dancing, community jam, delish food from Los Cilantros.

OUR FEATURED ARTIST, THE ONE AND ONLY: JESSICA RECINOS

Jessica is a dancer, dance coordinator, choreographer and “artivist” who was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. She is the founder of Rising Rhythym Project SF, a Bay Area dance collective connecting a diverse group of creators to inspire and artistically express their passions for collaboration and creativity through dance, music, and creative arts. She has trained and taught with some of the San Francisco Bay Area’s most respected Global Street Dancers such as Allan Frias of Mind Over Matter, Rashad ” Soul Nubian” Pridgen and Jocquese Whitfield. She is also a member of the Bay Area vogue performing group, Haus of Nubenetto.

She has appeared in music videos for local Bay Area artists such as Los Rakas, Favi Estrella, Ms Haze, Zivia Walker and Macka. Hip hop culture runs in Jessica’s blood. Her uncle is former KMEL radio personality and San Francisco hip hop guru, DJ Mind Motion. Jessica has also participated in a cultural exchange with world renowned Blocos Olodum and Ile Aye, teaching hip hop and training with various choreographers and Drum Directors in Salvador, Brazil.

Jessica uses her life experiences to shape her art and her talents as an all-styles dancer to bring about change to her community through her involvement as Carnaval Dance Coordinator with Loco Bloco and as an experienced dance teacher for youth and adults. She teaches throughout the Bay Area, including with Alonzo King LINES Dance Center, Loco Bloco, Dance Mission Theater and a number of San Francisco public schools and after-school youth programs. Combining her passion for dance and youth empowerment, Jessica strives to provide youth with the opportunities, that she didn’t have when she was young, to participate in the arts and express themselves through creative movement and train to become next level dancers.
