Día de Muertos: Ceremony, Altar, Activities, Music, & Food!

November 1 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$5 – $20

Join us for a meaningful Día de Muertos celebration in the Bay Area at La Peña Cultural Center. This event invites you and your family to come together in ceremony, honoring our ancestors and embracing a practice of remembrance, healing, and community.

Let us guide the spirits of our loved ones to rest in power as we seek harmony with the land and with one another. All ages are welcome—bring your whole family!

What to Expect:

  • Altar Ceremony & Community Ofrenda: We’ll gather outdoors for a powerful Ceremony of the Four Directions and initiate a shared ofrenda (altar). If you’d like to participate, please bring offerings such as food, candles, or photos. (Please note: Items left on the altar will remain overnight, so avoid bringing anything you wish to take back.)
  • Live Music & Jam Session: Bring your instruments to play along with us by the altar and enjoy the live music throughout the evening!
  • Kids’ Activities: Fun and engaging activities for children to learn about and celebrate Día de Muertos.
  • Special Dinner Menu: Delicious food by Los Cilantros Restaurant will be available for purchase, offering a special menu to commemorate the occasion.
  • Art & Handcrafted Goods: Browse unique art and handmade items for sale by local artisans.
  • Fandango in Son Jarocho: The night will conclude with a lively Fandango with Son Jarocho music, celebrating life and community through traditional Mexican rhythms.

This event is a collaboration with Mayra Hernández and María De La Rosa, and we’re honored to create a space that celebrates the richness of Día de Muertos through ceremony, music, and community.

Come celebrate with us and be part of this beautiful tradition right here in the heart of the Bay Area!
