The Flamenco Society of San Jose & La Peña Cultural Center present: La Farruca & Company – Directly from Spain!
Spend a special evening with Rosario “La Farruca” Montoya, one of flamenco’s greatest dancers noted for her passionate movements that are both authentic and energetic.
La Farruca will delight with Destiny of Fire, a work of intimate, visceral flamenco, from the very essence of the culture of the gypsies, of which she grew up within.
Rosario Montoya takes her stage name “La Farruca” from her father, the famous bailador Antonio Montoya Flores “Farruco”. She comes from a great dynasty of flamenco artists, so she was born and raised in a special environment for her artistic development, with direct access to some of the great figures of the second half of the 20th century .
In addition, she is the sister of Pilar Montoya Manzano “La Faraona”, aunt of Juan Fernández Montoya “El Barullo” and mother of Juan Manuel Fernández Montoya “Farruquito”, Antonio Fernández Montoya “Farru” and Manuel Fernández Montoya “El Carpeta”.
This performance will also feature dancer Natalia del Mar “La Serrata”; singers Juanilloro de Jerez and El Quini; and guitarist, Raul Vicenti. This performance is 1 hour and 30 minutes long with one 15 minute intermission and is appropriate for all ages.
