Welcome to La Peña! Promoting social justice & intercultural understanding through the arts since 1975.
Everyone is welcome to attend Food First’s monthly community meeting the third Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm in La Peña’s lounge!
Agroecology is our best option for creating an agrifood system capable of nurturing people, societies, and the planet. But it is still not widespread. Fertile Ground, edited by Groundswell International‘s Executive Director Steve Brescia, offers nine case studies authored by agroecologists from Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, North America, and Europe, that demonstrate how the endogenous practice of agroecology can be “scaled” so that it is known by more farmers, practiced more deeply, and integrated in planning and policy.
Fertile Ground features success stories on agroecology from around the world. These case studies serve as an inspirational guidebook for transformation – especially in today’s political climate.
Join Food First and agroecology discussants for an interactive panel discussion on the importance and urgency of the role of agroecology to transform and reshape the agrifood system.
If you’re feeling defeated in today’s political climate, & have questions about how to move forward, you won’t want to miss this event!
ABOUT FOOD FIRST:
Food First envisions a world in which all people have access to healthy, ecologically produced, and culturally appropriate food. After 40 years of analysis of the global food system, we know that making this vision a reality involves more than technical solutions—it requires political transformation. That’s why Food First supports activists, social movements, alliances, and coalitions working for systemic change. Our work—including action-oriented research, publications, projects and Food Sovereignty Tours—gives you the tools to understand the global challenges, build your local movement, and engage with the global movement for food sovereignty.
