Welcome to La Peña! Promoting social justice & intercultural understanding through the arts since 1975.
Join us every Wednesday in March 2025 for Karma Cinema Wednesdays at The New Parkway Theater in Oakland! This special collaboration between La Peña Cultural Center and The New Parkway allows you to enjoy a film while directly supporting community arts and culture.
With pay-what-you-wish tickets, you can watch a movie and 20% of all ticket sales will be donated to La Peña Cultural Center, helping sustain our mission of arts, culture, and social justice.
Dates: Every Wednesday in March 2025 (March 5, 12, 19, & 26)
Location: The New Parkway Theater, 474 24th St, Oakland, CA (This event takes place off-site at The New Parkway, not at La Peña.)
Tickets: Available at TheNewParkway.com
Accessibility: The New Parkway’s auditoriums and common areas are fully ADA accessible.
Come for the movies, stay for the community—grab a drink, sink into a cozy loveseat, and support independent arts spaces in the Bay!
Located in Oakland’s Uptown district, The New Parkway Theater is a community-centered cinema and pub offering a unique moviegoing experience. With loveseats, vintage chairs, and a welcoming atmosphere, it screens everything from new releases to cult classics. The theater serves local beer, wine, and a full menu with options for all dietary needs.
The New Parkway is also committed to sustainability and accessibility, offering zero-waste initiatives, profit-sharing for employees, and a mission-driven approach to bringing people together through film and conversation. Karma Cinema Wednesdays is part of that commitment—making movies accessible while giving back to local nonprofits.
