La Peña’s 50th Anniversary Festival!

Join us in celebrating 50 years of Art, Culture, & Collective Action!

La Peña Cultural Center is celebrating its 50th Anniversary, and we want you to join us for a day-long festival that honors our history and looks toward the future of arts and culture in Berkeley and beyond. On June 7th, 2025, we invite you to a community celebration filled with music, storytelling, art, food, and much more.

For 50 years, La Peña has served as a vital space for collective joy, cultural expression, and liberation. This special milestone calls for a celebration that reflects the heart of our work and the people who make La Peña possible. Our festival will run for 12 hours and will feature a variety of activities that are open to all ages and all members of our community.

From 11:30am to 5:30pm, all activities are FREE. Our concert at 5:30pm has ticketed entry on a sliding scale —all proceeds will support our 50th Anniversary Fundraising Campaign!

• Throughout the day, we will come together for a community lunch, where we’ll share food, stories, and celebrate the connections we’ve built. Families are especially welcome, as we’ll have kids’ activities designed to engage younger audiences in arts, music, and movement.
• You will also be able to explore an exhibition that will highlight some gems from our archives and the people that have helped keep La Peña alive throughout the years! You will learn from our current staff all the progress we’ve made to protect, preserve, and share our historical materials.
• A storytelling circle will make us come together and reflect on the richness of our collective history as we share memories, anecdotes, jokes, struggles, triumphs, and (love) stories.
• In true La Peña fashion, the festival will feature a concert with performances showcasing the diverse traditions and genres that have shaped our cultural center.
• And, to end the night, we will of course host community jams La Peña style, where everyone is invited to play, dance, sing along, relax with some drinks, and simply enjoy the creative spirit of the moment!

La Peña’s anniversary is also a celebration of the power of community, art, and culture to transform lives. Whether you’ve been part of our journey for decades or are discovering us for the first time, we invite you to be a part of this milestone.
