Fito Reinoso arrived in the SF Bay Area in 1984 as a refugee and began playing with Los Cuban Boys, Salsa Caliente, Bomba y Play, Conjuntos Cespedes, Charanga Tumbao y Cuerdas y Alma del Barrio. He founded Ritmo y Harmonia en 1986. In the 1995, Fito appeared with Cachao y su descarga. For the last 30 years,Fito has been a landmark in the Afro-Cuban music scene in the Bay Area. He has four CDs to his name, among which are Ya Llegamos, Dinero, La Puerta está abierta, y Comunicación.
Jesus Diaz also arrived in the San Francisco in the 1980s. He played with Conjunto Cespedes, Charanga Tumbao y Cuerdas, founded Jesus Diaz y su QBA, one of the hottest timba bands in 1990s. Jesus Diaz has performed, toured and recorded with such artists as, Carlos Santana, Andy Narrell, Dizzy Gillespie, Bobbie Womack, Steve Coleman, Caribbean Jazz Project, Planet Drum, Talking Drums, Pete Escovedo / Sheila E, José Luis Quintana “Changuito”, Giovanni Hidalgo, Rebecca Mauleón & Round Trip, Omar Sosa, Columna “B”, John Calloway, and Conjunto Céspedes among many.
