Welcome to La Peña! Promoting social justice & intercultural understanding through the arts since 1975.
Join us for a screening of No Separate Survival and intimate discussion with the director and filmmakers!
No Separate Survival is a short documentary film and community experience about asylum seekers across the U.S./Mexico border. Through a lens of creative expression, the film gives voice to what it means to create home and seek safety. Themes of gender identity, loss and violence, chosen families, and the ways we make place reveal our shared humanity in a divisive world. No Separate Survival honors Audre Lorde’s reminder, “There is no separate survival.”
This event is facilitated by East Bay Sanctuary Covenant, No Separate Survival, Friends of La Peña Immigrant Rights Committee at La Peña Cultural Center, and Amplifying Sanctuary Voices.
All funds raised will support our work in providing emergency legal services, Know Your Rights education, and cash assistance for immigrants in the Bay Area.
