Welcome to La Peña! Promoting social justice & intercultural understanding through the arts since 1975.
Welcome! To the world of Latin American music and culture. Our 10-week long course in variations of Latin vocal and instrumental styles finalizes with a lush and exuberant FREE recital of Latin American Classics, starring the Orquestra la Moderna Tradicion. This ongoing tradition at La Peña Cultural Center is historically rich and one of our favorite crowd-pleasers.
TEACHERS: Latin Jazz singer, composer, arranger, producer and educator Maria Marquez & Tregar Otton – Arranger, producer, composer, violinist and band leader of the ORQUESTA LA MODERNA TRADICION. I am sure many of you know this group, they not only have been playing every New Year’s Eve at La Pena, but they actually have been together for over a decade thanks to the organizational skills and great knowledge and talent of this violinist from Corpus Christi, Texas.
