Music and Movement for Kids: “Treble Tales”

This class offers ensemble lessons that engage children and nurture in them a love for the arts while introducing them to folklore from a variety of cultures!
What we do:
* make music with instruments using pentatonic scale
* ear-training with instruments
* group/circle/partner dances
* improv movement
* learn to play recorder (older kids)
* ensemble music playing
* have fun!!!
After a few weeks of collaborative work the children will retell the story through music, movement and dialogue. There is no need to purchase any instruments. Musical instruments to be used in the classroom include Orff xylophones and glockenspiels, various drums, recorders, shakers, woodblocks, kazoos, and more.
Children are not required to have any prior music/dance experience.
Children should wear loose clothing to allow for movement.
The classroom is a shoe-off zone.
About Vanessa:
Vanessa Ramos has been teaching music & movement to children in the Bay Area for just over a decade. She has a great passion for music, theater, dance and children. Putting these passions together brought about ‘Treble Tales’ a program that allows children to play and create theatrical performances while learning a variety of skills. She is a graduate of UC Berkeley where she double majored in ‘Music’ and ‘Theater and Performance Studies.’ She obtained her Orff Training at The San Francisco School, and is a member of NCAOSA, the Northern California American Orff-Schulwerk Association.
