Cheers to Paul Chin on his last dinner as La Peña’s board president! Paul, you are an incredible person and an elder we look up to. Thank you for all of your years of service to the community and guidance for the next gen! We are also thrilled to have Teslim Ikharo take on the role of LP’s board president! Thank you for holding down this important leadership role! Thank you, Victor Martinez for holding this special board meeting and “last supper” at your home!
A statement from La Peña’s outgoing Board President, Paul Chin
Dear La Peña Community,
My tenure as president of La Peña’s board of directors comes to an end in March of 2019. It has been an honor to be part of a team that carries on the vital mission of La Peña which is to create peace and social justice through cultural arts, education and community action.
Our new Board President, Teslim Ikharo, is dedicated to carry on that mission along with the current board of directors: Paloma Salazar, Victor Martinez, Gino Pastori-Ng, Carol Pierson, and Carmen Figueroa . They will support the invaluable work of Co- Executive Directors Natalia Neira and Bianca Torres, and deputy director Tara Talbo as they usher in a new year.
Like many nonprofits, our work is made possible by the financial support of our community. Your donations make possible our diverse array of classes, cultural presentations, and programs that shine a light on the many social injustices that we confront. Consider making a tax-deductible donation to La Peña here!
Again, I welcome Teslim and thank you all for your continued support. Although I will not be on the board, I will continue serving La Peña as a committee volunteer and as a donor.
In solidarity,
Paul Chin
