Our featured artist is one of Bay Area’s most skilled and talented Flamenco dancer, Stephanie Narvaez!

Estefanía Narváez was born in Boston, daughter of Colombian and Puerto Rican immigrants. She began dancing flamenco at the age of 7 in Boston and quickly fell in love with its celebration of inner beauty and strength, its continuous reinvention and limitless learning. As a child she performed with various local flamenco groups including a family based troupe El Arte Flamenco, with her father on guitar. She lived in Madrid and Seville, Spain and studied with many masters including Farruquito, Manuela Rios, Juana Amaya and many others. She toured the east coast with the Philadelphia based troupe Pasión y Arte and with Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana company based in New York City. In 2004 she moved to the bay area and began touring with Theatre Flamenco as well as the Latin/Reggae/Rumba Flamenca fusion band LoCura, playing percussion and dancing. She has since spent six summers in Santa Fe, New Mexico performing with Juan Siddi Flamenco Santa Fe Company. In 2012 Estefanía was featured as a soloist for the summer season performing six nights a week and toured in both six-week winter nationwide tours in 2012 and 2013, and with Aspen Santa Fe Ballet in 2015 and 2016 at prestigious dance venues such as the Joyce Theatre in New York City and Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival. Between January 2013 and October 2016 Estefania lived in Seville Spain, training teaching and performing as a soloist 4-7 nights a week full time at Sala Sentir and el Auditorio Alvarez Quintero. During this time period she would take classes during the day, perform two shows in the evening and go out to “juergas” to live flamenco in the streets and among families..because flamenco is at the heart of it, a way of life. She frequently travels between the Bay Area, New York City and New England where you will find her giving workshops and dancing at various venues.
