This is a new phase of connecting with you. Here you will find the latest news about La Peña. Our goal is to offer you new and better services, facilitate connections between artist and audience and give our community more ways to share their ideas with us.
Artists will be able to find booking information, how to download documents, see available grant opportunities with us, explore tips for social media conversations and ways to promote their art. They will be able to listen to their audiences and interact with them.
You will be able to learn more about artists that perform at La Peña, their work and see backstage action and interviews. We want you to give us your ideas about organizing events and feedback about the shows you have seen here. You will also find information about our great classes for all ages.

La Peña celebrates 36 years of promoting art, diversity and understanding within the plethora of cultures that exemplify the Bay Area

As a milestone in the advancement of the beauty of artistry in our communities, La Peña Cool-tural Center celebrates its 36th Birthday with an assortment of events that embrace art & culture, education, solidarity, community action and lots of body energy and singing voices. These events touch artistically and culturally on La Peña’s work and mission throughout its history and reaffirm the origins of the beloved South Berkeley hut as a gathering space for people to express themselves, to be heard and to learn and experience genuine art forms.
Nicole Klaymoon’s Embodiment Project invites you to witness ten performers use street dance, spoken word, theater, and song, unearthing the most intimate workings of their hearts, in an attempt to better understand our shared emotional reality. Drawing from love in all its forms – familial, romantic, esoteric, and abstract – “Bloodline” fuses process and performance highlighting the symbiotic nature of vulnerability and self-empowerment. “Bloodline” is the manifestation of the belief that self-healing is the most important step towards social change and a shift in global consciousness. The evening will also include guest performances by Byb Chanel, Ashley Holladay, Valerie Troutt, and Makana Muanga. Plus guest artists Byb Chanel, Ashley Holladay, Valerie Troutt, & Makana Muanga. Friday, Saturday and Sunday March 25, 26 & 27. 2011. 12-$20 sliding scale $8 students – 8pm
