This year marks an incredible milestone – La Peña Cultural Center is celebrating 50 years since opening its doors in 1975! Since its founding and to this day, La Peña has promoted intercultural understanding and advanced social justice movements through art and music, both within and beyond the Bay Area. We can’t take this achievement for granted; reaching five decades of continuous work has only been possible due to the relentless effort, commitment, talent, creativity, and support from community members like you.
Today, spaces like La Peña are as crucial as they were 50 years ago —in the midst of new violent waves of oppression and persecution of our communities, grassroots institutions are the places that not only hold us together, but allow us to organize and actively create the world that we believe in, building our sense of belonging and renewing our hope.
