La Peña is celebrating its 45th year in the midst of nationwide mobilizations against oppression and a worldwide pandemic, which have magnified existing inequities in our society.
We believe that this historic moment can serve as a catalyst for creating a more just and equitable world and La Peña is in a strong position to play a key role in movement-building today.
La Peña is taking its mission further by launching new online programs, resource pages and more this year! To enter this new digital frontier, we need to raise $45,000 by August 31, 2020 so that we can fund new digital programs and broaden our impact more than ever before.
Donate to La Peña here! Learn about other ways to donate here!
Your support will allow La Peña to double down on its mission through:
ONLINE CLASSES – Starting this summer, we will offer FREE introductory online classes to some of La Peña’s long-standing cultural art forms in English and Spanish. This program will also support our teaching artists and cultural bearers financially and with exposure.
SOCIAL JUSTICE DIALOGUES – These conversations will help educate and bring together our communities in solidarity with grassroots and national networks for social change. These dialogues will range in topics from civic engagement to artist talks.
ARTISTS SPONSORSHIPS – La Peña will sponsor artists from our networks to livestream content to compensate for lost work. We’ve compiled a list of resources for artists and a landing page that highlights the work of artists, musicians and other creatives impacted by the ripple effects of COVID-19. We are expanding on that platform with this continued work.
