Come to this class and learn all the basics of Afro Peruvian Dance to understand the rhythms, patterns, steps and movements of this musical tradition. No previous experience needed!

Join us at La Peña for this Open Mic Series that uplifts the experiences and talents of BIPOC, women, LGBTQAI+ folks, immigrants / migrants, and all other voices that have been historically erased, marginalized, and under/misrepresented. We want to hear you, support you, and transform the world with you!

FEATURED ARTISTS:
Versoul is an Alternative Hip-Hop artist, producer and audio engineer from San Francisco. Since she was a baby, music has always been her outlet for self-expression and healing. Versoul began freestyling at the age of 8, then learned to produce beats at 13 using FL Studio. She dedicates her music to inspiring other mixed youth around the world to tell their story and embrace their power.
LOE Gino is a Berkeley native Hip Hop artist who uses his music as a way to draw pictures of his past. His album “Burning Sage 2” was released earlier this year and you can listen to some of its hits in all online platforms! Gino has a deep emotional connection with his music that transpires through each and every one of his performances, and he’ll be in charge of sending us home feeling invincible!
Jada Michelle, a.k.a. DJada, originally from Cincinnati, is a Bay Area-based artist with a lifelong love for music. She started as a singer, actor, and pianist, and has since channeled her love for sound into DJing. Influenced by Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Smino, her grandmother Michelle, and the diverse artists from the Bay, DJada’s energy reflects a rich tapestry of inspiration that is impossible to ignore.

- AntifaSon is a Son Jarocho project musically residing on unceded Ohlone territory (aka Oakland). They amplify anti-capitalist, anti-colonial, anti-fascist and anti-extractivist feminist themes in Son Jarocho songs that form part of the larger history of Afro-Indigenous land, water and campesinx struggles.
- Mía Pixley is a clinical psychologist, mother, composer, and musical artist who uses her cello, voice, and performance to study and represent aspects of self and other, community, and the natural world. Mia has performed on GRAMMY award-winning albums (Fantastic Negrito), off-broadway musicals (Futurity), and in national tours (Windham Hill Winter Solstice), among many others. Mia’s discography includes a full length album (Margaret in the Wild, 2021) and two interdisciplinary EP projects (Spar Suite, 2020 and Passage, 2022), with a soon-to-be-released new project she’s very excited about. You can find all of her music on streaming platforms and bandcamp.
